City of Los Angeles to Host Free Screening of 'PacoimaStories: Land of Dreams'

With the ever-growing popularity of the PacoimaStories: Land of Dreams film, the city of Los Angeles in association with the Pacoima Historical Society will host a free screening of the critically acclaimed documentary for members of the community.

The screening will take place on Thursday, August 4 at Hubert H. Humphey Recreation Center in Pacoima. The film will be shown outdoors, under the stars beginning at 8:30pm. The community is invited to bring their blankets and lawn chairs to see this amazing movie which tells the incredible history of Pacoima.

Hubert H. Humphey Recreation Center has a historic legacy in the Pacoima community. Formerlly known as Filmore Park, this Pacoima landmark has been visited by generations of Pacoimians for the past half-century.

"Humphrey park has a tremendous history in Pacoima," stated Crystal Jackson, the film's director. "It's truly a blessing to be able to show this film at a location that epitomizes what Pacoima's history is all about. I hope everybody comes out not just to see the film, but to show their support and love for the town we all love."

Organizers are suggesting people arrive early because seating space is on a first come basis.

"We want everyone to come enjoy this amazing movie," stated Maria Brown, one of the event coordinaters. "Bring your snacks, bring your drinks (no alcohol allowed) and enjoy a beautiful summer night under the stars. The event is completely free and the experience will be great for the entire family."
