With it’s highly successful and sold out world premiere screening leading the way, PacoimaStories: Land of Dreams is being hailed as a must-see film. Media buzz from numerous outlets including the Los Angeles Daily News and San Fernando Valley Sun have made it the talk of Los Angeles.

The film tells the history of Pacoima with a driving narrative combined with oral accounts from the voices of the town. It presents historical facts beginning from 450AD, when Native Americans roamed the land, through today’s inspiring march towards a brighter future.

The documentary, which was written and directed by Crystal Jackson, drew huge praise from those who attended the February 27th screening. Many notable Pacoimians joined the red carpet event, including Congressman Tony Cardenas, Actor Danny Trejo, and R&B singer Howard Huntsberry.

"This is a wonderful film that shows the ups and downs and the rebirth of a great community," said Howard Huntsberry.

"To see this town’s history told with a vision towards the future was inspirational" added Stan Leandro. "This film exceeded all expectations.”

With 400 people in attendance, the audience sat mesmerized throughout the two-hour program, cheering at times, shedding tears at others.

"I experienced a few different emotions," said Mary Cole Smith. "Happy, excited and sad.  Before I saw the film I had a discussion with my friend about the history of Pacoima that I knew and I was hoping that it would be in the documentary.  My opinion is I think you deserve an Emmy Award."

Two additional screenings have now been added and will take place on Saturday, April 2 at the Vaughn G3 Performing Arts Theater. Both showings will be presented in Dolby HD surround-sound to fully enhance the viewing experience.

Show times are scheduled for 1:00PM and 5:00PM. Tickets are $12.00 in advance. For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.PacoimaStories.com/ pacoima-stories-screening

It began with my great grandmothers’ sister Lucille followed by my great, great grandmother Rosa, who opened the first Black owned restaurant in the Valley called Lee’s Restaurant on Van Nuys Blvd.
